Dressy hairdo

Another pretty easy hairstyle that looks super cool.  :)  It doesn't take too much time, but still looks elegant.

For this hairstyle, I start with dry hair (either air dried or blow dried) and pin my bangs back.  Then, starting at the top of the back of my head, I take a section of hair, wrap it around two fingers (to get the curl starting), slide it off of my fingers, keep rolling it up to my head, and pin the side of the curl closest to my head with two bobby pins crisscrossed.  I add bobby pins as needed to help the curls stay in a curl.

(If you need more details, here's the tutorial that was my inspiration source: http://rapunzelsresource.wordpress.com/2009/11/13/authentic-18th-century-2/.)

A bonus of this style is that it curls your hair while you wear it and gives you great volume when you take it down.  :)

Easy, messy hairdo

This hairstyle is super easy and random.  :)  To do this style, I use Garnier Fructis Style Curl Shaping Spray Gel (available at Walmart and Target).  I spray my hair with the gel, scrunching it as I spray, until I get it pretty curled.  Then I pin my bangs back with bobby pins, gather the rest of my hair in a slightly lower ponytail, and secure it loosely with a ponytail holder.  Next, I grab a section of hair from the ponytail, twist it a bit, and pin it just with one pin so it will stay loose and messy.  I keep twisting and pinning hair until it has all been pinned.  :)  A style that shows some curl, but keeps my hair (mostly) up?  Yes, please.  :)

The twist is the only part of this style that is hard to explain.  So I'll trying drawing it.  :)  (Drawing on the computer, that is!  Eeekkk!)

Let me know if this hairstyle works for you!  Thanks!  :)

Wedding card update

Here's a photo of the finished wedding card from a while ago.  I tied three strands of hemp around the card and then tied a sheer blue ribbon on the hemp knot.  I took the hemp strands off the card and handstitched the ribbon on the hemp to make sure it would stay put, then slid it all back on the card and voila!  Finally done!  :)

More angry bird stuff :)

Finally catching up on photo uploading today.  Yay!  :)

Here's the yellow angry bird I made (tutorial here):

And here's the pig (tutorial here):

More pics later.  :)

Yikes!

It has been a while since I've updated.  :)  I did add some hemp string and a ribbon to the card in the last post.  I took pictures, but I haven't uploaded them yet.  I also have been wearing my hair up the past couple of days and took pictures of the styles, but I haven't uploaded them either.  I guess I know what's on the agenda for the next blog post...  :)  Oh, and while we are talking about photos that I need to post, I did make a yellow angry bird and a pig and took photos, but you know the drill.  :)  Yeah, they're still on the memory card.

Downton Abbey season 2 has come and gone.  It ended on a happier note than season 1 did.  :)  Season 3 is currently being filmed.  And we wait again.  :)

And let's end this post with one of my favorite music groups - Straight No Chaser (10 guys singing acapella) - with their version of "Fix You."  [Warning: you may want to have a rather excessive amount of tissues nearby.  :) ]

DIY card

I made a card today for a wedding that is this afternoon.  I used Stamping Up stamps and ink, a scrapbook paper pack from Hobby Lobby, a card and envelope from Hobby Lobby, and my sewing machine.  :)  I just might be a paper-sewing addict.  :)

Yes, it does have a matching envelope.  :)

I'm not sure that it is finished.  It seems like it needs something - buttons, hemp string, or something else.
